Virtual Show - Games and Waves, Autumn 2020 Online

Scottish National 5 & GCSE

29 September 2020 (1:20pm - 3:00pm)

Live on YouTube

Host: Matt Parker
Ben Sparks: Virtual Show - Games & Waves
Zoe Griffiths: Virtual Show - Games & Waves
Rob Eastaway: Virtual Show - Games & Waves
Hannah Fry: Virtual Show - Games & Waves

If you missed this show in July, here's another chance to join Matt Parker, Ben Sparks, Zoe Griffiths and Rob Eastaway, plus Special Guest Dr Hannah Fry, LIVE as they reveal mathematical curiosities from the world of music, sport, games, and lotteries.

There will be puzzles and quizzes, a chance to ask questions, AND an opportunity to win a fantastic prize for yourself and for your school.  You will also have a chance to submit questions to Hannah Fry. This might be the most maths fun your students will have this year.  (And teachers - if you need a Curriculum Tick List, see the bottom of this page.)

Flat fee of £78 incl VAT for a school.

This show is aimed at your Year 10/11 GCSE students.

There is no limit on how many can view from a school, but only secondary school teachers can register. We anticipate that most schools will get between 10 and 150 students involved, and that the majority of students will be in a classroom with a teacher.  Students at home will need home access to Youtube and to a separate browser (for interactivity). Youtube comments will be disabled.

1:30pm - 3pm on Tuesday 29 September 2020 (pre-show puzzles and shout-outs from 1:20pm)

  • The price is a flat fee of £78 inc VAT. There's no limit on how many can view from a school, but only teachers will be sent access details.
  • You can pay via invoice or with a credit or debit card.
  • If students are at home rather than in the classroom, teachers will need to send the link to the students they want to participate. Teachers will need to advise students on how to interact with the show (we'll send teachers a briefing about five days before the date of the show). We anticipate most schools will get between 10 and 150 students involved.
  • The show will be broadcast live on Youtube, and have interactive elements including a mini Lottery and other games and quizzes. In order to fully participate, your students will need to have access to Youtube and the ability to open a separate browser.
  • The show will be recorded and the video will be available to subscribing schools for one week after the show.
